I am an Ikebana artist and teacher of the Sogetsu School of Ikebana.
Ikebana for me is about beauty – flowers, branches, fruits and vegetables, handmade ceramic or glass containers, objects d’art – all these things together become an intricate sculpture. But it is also about encounters. Allowing yourself a luxury of space and time to encounter nature and to touch on the mystical force of creativity. And this is a most empowering feeling.
As an Ikebana artist and teacher, I run workshops, exhibitions, lectures and demonstrations to the public.
My students come to my studio in the Dandenong Ranges, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.
As long as I can remember I have always been fascinated with Japan. Its people, customs, food, gardens, dolls, Japanese dogs and most of all the aesthetic beauty of everyday life.
I have been very fortunate to travel to Japan a number of times and have made wonderful friends in both Japan and Melbourne through my practice of Ikebana.
